This week’s double fixture week somewhat skews the stats and Captain tips heading into round 26 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League but with both Liverpool and Swansea set two play two games during the fixture week it is very difficult not to look at a player from either side as a viable captain this coming week.
After publishing our final thoughts on the top players to be considering for round 26, our thoughts now turn to that all important captain decision.
The first man up for consideration is Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, Sturridge has produced attacking returns in all four of his appearances since he made the move from Chelsea to Merseyside and with two fixtures down for decision for Liverpool this week the potential for Sturridge to continue his recent good form is very tempting from a captain point of view.
Juan Mata yet again finds himself in our captain picks this week, the Chelsea midfielder has been one of the most consistant performers in the fantasy premier league this season. With three goals and four assists in his last six games Mata’s credentials speak for themselves going into round 26 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League and with a struggling Wigan side coming to the Bridge this weekend Mata may well add to his goal scoring tally against the Latics.
Gareth Bale is the last man to make our captain short list ahead of round 26, Bale has made a return to form over the last few weeks and with the Welsh international now playing a new central midfield role it looks like his potential to gain even more attacking returns over the coming weeks have increased. Bale has two goals in two games and will be keen to continue where he left off last week as Tottenham welcome Newcastle to White Hart Lane in Saturday’s early kick off.
