Norwich host Fulham at Carrow Road in round 26 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League this coming Saturday at 3pm in a fixture that sees them as one of the favourites to keep a clean sheet this weekend.
Mark Bunn has come into the Norwich team in since late November in the absence of injured John Ruddy and has started the Canaries last 12 premier league games. Over this period however Norwich have been less reliable defensively then when his predecessor Ruddy was between the posts but things may be starting to take a turn for Norwich. Earlier in the season after Norwich conceded 9 goals against Liverpool and Chelsea manager Chris Hughton worked over the October International break with his defence and got them drilled which saw them go on a run collecting three clean sheets in a row and we may be starting to a return to something similar over the coming weeks.
On Saturday Norwich were lucky at times but were good value for their clean sheet and when you consider that they kept a clean sheet against Newcastle two weeks ago, Norwich defenders are back on the radar.
Up Coming Fixtures
Norwich have three home games from their next four fixtures that has them playing Fulham, Everton and Southampton at Carrow Road. Their only away fixture in this period is against Manchester United on the 2nd of March which comes a few days before the second leg of Sir Alex Fergusons Champions League date with Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid. Norwich kept one clean sheet against Manchester United already this season and the possiblility of playing against a weakend United team will give them an outside shout of collecting a second this time at Old Trafford.
In the more immediate future this weekend Norwich host Fulham who as everyone knows are terrible on the road. We will have to wait until later in the week for confirmation on whether or not Dimitat Berbatov has recovered from his hamstring injury to make this weekend’s fixture, but what we do know is that over their last three away games in the Barclays Premier League Fulham have conceded 9 goals but did pick up a surprize victory at West Brom.
The key statistic is that Fulham have only scored three goals in their last five Premier League games. This really plays in the favour of Norwich and bringing in Mark Bunn for this game could be a shrewd move that will work out well for the next four weeks of the fantasy premier league.
