After picking up a brace against Southampton in round 24, Wayne Rooney once again added fuel to “Rooney/RVP” debate among fantasy managers and once again this week he has stolen the lime light from Van Persie.
Rooney was on hand with a superbly struck shot against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday evening that saw the league leaders win out by the smallest of margins.
While Rooney’s return to form will undoubtedly please Sir Alex Ferguson it is beginning to become a cause for concern for fantasy managers who have a vested interest in his Dutch strike partner.
Van Persie had registered returns in each of the previous 10 but has failed to find the net since Rooney’s return which is causing fantasy manager to think long and hard about the prospect of make a direct swap between the pair.
In fantasy terms Rooney has a long way to go if he is to close the fantasy points gap between the pair but with a rather appealing run of fixtures on the horizon, the Rooney-Van Persie debate looks set to rumble on with many fantasy football manager even considering the option of doubling up on the United duo for the final run in.
