As we count down to the first game of round 15 of the Irish Times Fantasy Premier League the news continues to filter through to us here in the managers office surrounding various clubs and players, one of the biggest pieces of news to break over the last few hour that will surely effect many fantasy football managers is the fact that Swansea’s enigmatic midfielder Pablo Hernandez will miss this weekend’s trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal through injury.
Swansea wasted no time getting out of the starting blocks last time out against West Brom as they went 3-0 up inside 40 minutes and it was Hernandez who was instrumental in their early success against the Baggies. Fantasy premier league managers will have been keen to cash in on the Spaniards recent good run of form but that won’t be the case this weekend after Swans manager Michael Laudrup announced that he picked up a thigh injury during Wednesday’s victory:
Laudrup told the waiting press;
“These injuries happen from time to time with the amount of games and it’s part of football,” he said.
“We have to accept it and that’s why we have a squad of players.
“We need everyone and if we succeed in the cups as well then there are going to be a lot of games coming up.”
He added: “Sometimes everyone plays to their maximum and that is what happened in the first half on Wednesday.”
So with Hernandez missing out Leon Britton is set to come into the midfield along side Ki Sung Yueng, there is little doubt that this change will effect the Swans attacking potential somewhat but with De Guzman sitting in “the hole” just behind on form Michu Swansea will still be an attacking threat that Arsenal will have to contend with.
