Fantasy Football Clean Sheets: Goalkeepers for Round 11 of the Fantasy Premier League

Monday, November 5th, 2012 at 11:12 pm by Paul Caffrey

Last weekend saw the Premier League produce a series of shock results and six clean sheets which included Jaaskelainen keeping out Manchester City and Al-Hasbi kept out Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

Other teams to keep a clean sheet in the Irish Times fantasy premier league last week were Norwich, Manchester City, Aston Villa and West Brom.

Our defensive selections are strongly fancied to deliver this weekend and could give your fantasy premier league team the points boost it needs.

Everton have a strong run of fixtures coming up

Tim Howard (Everton) £3.7 Million Fixture: Sunderland (Home)

Its no secret that Everton have made their best start to a Premier League season since 2004 but over the opening ten games they have only managed two clean sheets. Both clean sheets came in games that were a little surprising including the opening Monday night fixture of the season against Manchester United at Goodison Park and in round 5 of the fantasy premier league away to Swansea City.

Tim Howard was desperately unlucky to concede an Own Goal last week away to Fulham when Bryan Ruiz shot hit the woodwork and went into the net off Howard.

The Toffees welcome Sunderland to Goodison Park this weekend and it has been over 500 minutes since a Sunderland player actually scored a goal!

So far this season the American Goalkeeper has only had to make ten saves  at home all season only parrying one of those opportunities to an opponent. Many would expect this to be a quiet afternoon for the Everton shot stopper and we are backing him to keep his concentration and deliver a fantasy football clean sheet.

Ali Al Habsi (Wigan)  £3.1 Million Fixture: West Brom (Home)

Roberto Martinez was quick to point out that Wigan were not lucky to beat Tottenham last weekend at White Hart Lane, they played excellent and deserved it.

Ali Al Hasbi collected only his second clean sheet of the season last weekend and Wigan welcome an inform West Brom team to the DW Stadium this coming weekend.

On average at home the Wigan Keeper is only having to save 3-4 shots per game and as the season progresses this Wigan team are getting more dominant in terms of possession and results.

It is really interesting to see that the forward provide the first layer of cover as they do not let teams play a short pass out of defence. They push up and force teams to play the ball long and with three big central defenders on front of Al Hasbi Winning headers like Caldwell it is easy to see why we are backing them to deal with the threat that West Brom will bring.

On top of this West Brom are not the same force they are at the Hawthorns which is shown by their results that has seen the Baggies only take two points on the road this season.
