Time for that question again, who are you going to make Captain? Round 3 of The Irish Times Fantasy Premier League give fantasy premier league managers some difficult captain decisions to make this week.
After Manchester United lost Wayne Rooney last week for a few months it made the decision for fantasy football managers easier as they move to bring in Robin Van Persie. The Dutchman will be leading the line for the Red Devils against Southampton this week with a serious chance of delivering a large fantasy football points haul. Valencia managed fourtheen crosses against Fulham and Kagawa’s passing was excellent with his distribution of the ball in behind Van Persie.
This coupled with Southampon’s flair to attack combined with their poor defense will give Van Persie a great chance to score a few goals this weekend.
Our second selection is Tottenham’s Gareth Bale who despite a poor points return recently is playing excellent football and has been unlucky not to score yet this season. As the Canaries visit White Hart Lane few people expect them to collect their first clean sheet of the season and Bale is top of the list to score if you look at form.
Bale was unlucky last week against West Brom as he had five chances to score but didn’t manage to hit the back of the net. His assist potential has increased as Adebayor joins Tottenham and his defensive duties will be slightly relaxed as Moussa Dembele joins Spurs from Fulham.
The most popular captain selection this week is expected to be Carlos Tevez as Manchester City host QPR. The industrious striker is playing great football and has already scored a few goals this season. He rescued Manchester City at Anfield last weekend after scoring the equaliser for Manchester City to make the game finish 2-2. He is expected to play the weekend and will have a great opportunity to score a few goals against a new QPR defence that Mark Hughes is currently assembling.
