Even-handed Reporting in Florida

Florida TV interviewer Barbara West is being celebrated as a conservative martyr following an interview with Democratic running mate Joe Biden. The Obama campaign has threaten to boycott West’s TV station because of the tone of the interview, during which she quoted Karl Marx and asked Biden to explain exactly how Barack Obama is not a Marxist.
West told Bill O’Reilly that she had subjected John McCain to an equally tough interview, a puzzling claim when you hear the questions she asked him:

Hi Denis,
The McCain interview you have posted is an older one (Oct. 14). She also interviewed Biden earlier (Sep 26) and both these interviews are ‘lighter’. She did an interview with McCain last night (all available at http://www.wftv.com) which was quite hard hitting and exploring areas that McCain probably didn’t like.She asked him about infighting between him and Sarah Palin and whether that’s not damaging this close to the election. She also commented that the Obama campaign was much better organized and should the voters not be concerned about the disarray in McCain camp since this might have implications of how the White House will be managed. She even asked him to comment on claims that ‘Joe the plumber’ would actually be better off under Obama’s plan than under McCain’s.
Surely as a politician, you have to be able to deal with even what you consider the stupid questions because if she’s asking the question, you can be sure that there are people who are thinking it!
