In the UK, meanwhile, Eimear Mullan set a new benchmark for Irish Ironman athletes when she won Ironman UK. It’s the first time an Irish triathlete has won an Ironman race and the achievement cannot be underestimated. She completed the 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and full marathon in 10 hrs 8 minutes. Amazing.
