5 miles – and a lot more – a look back at the weekend

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the weekend’s highlights, but do tell us what you got up to.

Thousands did the Irish Runner 5 Mile in the Phoenix Park on Saturday morning, where the rain threatened to be more of an issue than it turned out to be. Current Irish Times All-Comers Title Holder Carl O’Brien was there for us, and posted this report just after the race.

Cliona Mooney, also of The Irish Times, posted a pic of the goody bag. Not bad. Not bad at all.

The Waterford Viking Marathon took place on Saturday – notable in itself, but even more so because our favourite 35 Marathon Man, Alan Corcoran (right), completed his extraordinary lap of Ireland on behalf of the Irish Heart Foundation.

The Kerryhead Half Marathon took place in Bellyheigue, and despite the rain – or because of it – everyone looks pretty pleased with their efforts.

And finally, here’s a sliver of video from the Athlone Triathlon – specifically, the bit where everyone does the “transition shuffle”.
