Danielle Barron got in touch with a burning question she hopes readers can help her with. And when she says “burning”, she means it…
“Just like the rest of those throngs of people I see pounding the roads on a daily basis, I got into running about 18 months ago. I could never run before and then one day – I could!
I have now done several runs, between 5 and 10k – my PB for a 10k is 58 minutes which I was thrilled about. I have my first half marathon coming up in 3 weeks.
I am by no means a natural athlete or runner and to be honest it feels like the planets have to align in order to grant me an easy run but I love the feeling of covering so much ground, not to mention the euphoria after I finish! Plus it’s been great for melting away the beer belly…
My major problem is not fitness or injuries…it’s heartburn. I suffer really bad acid reflux while running to the point where I am banging my chest as I run in order to force it out of me (nice).
I’ve really tried altering what I eat before a run, running on empty stomach, DOWNING Gaviscon…nothing really seems to help. It affects my running and also means I can’t run with anyone as it is quite embarrassing.
Just wondering if blog readers would have any solutions or suggestions?”
