Will free cake make me run faster?

Our weekend’s running included the worst thing imaginable – having to run past a stall offering FREE CAKES. It was a new one we could add to a list of things we shouldn’t have to run through/past. Chip shops are always tough. Chinese restaurants worse. Cigarette smoke is the pits. Feel free to add to that list if there’s something that annoys you.

Anyway, it led us to a blog called Running For Cake (“where a love of frosting and racing co-exist”). Here’s a few other things we stumbled over in recent days.

Kealan O’Connor (on the right) set off with the 3 hour pacer – in his first marathon. How did he get on? His blog tells us.

Here’s a resource for Irish running routes. 779 and counting.

The first Dublin Pride Run takes place on June 22nd over 5km in the Phoenix Park. It’s organised by the Dublin FrontRunners Athletic Club.

We’ve had a big response to our competition, by e-mail and through the comments thread. At least one entry reckons it will take five of us a good bit over 300 minutes to complete the Dublin Docklands Run, which is an hour each. Others have been more generous. Make sure to enter.

We have the Gaelforce races, but do we have anything like this in Ireland? Here’s the Dirty Foot Adventure Run – a 5 mile obstacle course.
