Scanlon: numerous (double that of Scanlan): all areas, especially N Munster and Connacht. Ir. Ó Scannláin, but Mac Scannláin in Oriel. The "-lon" spelling is plentiful in Connacht where it is a synonym of Scannell, q.v. IF.
