Keane: Very numerous: all areas, especially Munster. Ir. Ó Catháin, Ó Céin. The former is general in Munster; the latter relates to Waterford. Evidently distinct from the Ulster group, although Woulfe refers to a branch of the Derry sept in Clare. SI & SGG.
Keen: rare: Down. Possibly English, also a variant of Keane, q.v. DOS.
Mac Aodháin: Keane: ? líonmhar sa tír, ach ní ag freagairt don sloinne Gaelach sa a fuair de Bhulbh i gConnacht. Aodhán - díspeagadh ar Aodh a chiallaíonn "lasair". SGG.
