Gaughan: fairly numerous: Mayo etc. Ir. Ó Gáibheacháin (Gácháin). A sept of Uí Fiachrach (N Connacht). Also as Gavaghan and Gavigan, q.v. MIF & SGG.
Geehan: rare: Offaly-Tipperary. Ir. Ó Gaoithín. From gaoth, wind; perhaps a diminutive of Ó Maolghaoithe. A family of Síol Éalaigh, Wicklow, existing as Gahan. Also a Connacht group which appears as Wynne. See Gahan. SGG.
