Breheny: Quite numerous: Connacht, Dublin. Ir. Mac an Bhreitheamhan,-Bhreithiúnaigh. (Judge). This name has been generally changed to Judge but also occurs as Abraham. The variant Brehon is rare. MIF & SGG.
Brohan: fairly rare: Cork, Clare etc. Ir. Ó Bruacháin. Ó Dónaill gives bruachán as "stout low-sized person". Pseudo-translation has given Banks, a widespread name, most of whom have originated in Bruachán. MIF & SGG.
Broughan: fairly rare: Dublin & scattered. Ir. Ó Bruacháin. See Brohan.
Judge: numerous: Connacht, Midlands etc. Ir. Mac an Bhreithiún (son of the judge) which also appears as Abraham and Breheny. MIF.
