Young Scientist: Five projects you should see on Friday

The RDS is still hosting the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition for 2016. Here are some projects to keep an eye out for on Friday:

- A county by county happiness index has been developed by Jamie O’Connor, Lauryn Kiely and Dervla Murphy of Millstreet Community School, Cork.

- Modern technology can be used to keep tabs on people and Harvey Brezina Conniffe of St David’s Secondary School, Wicklow developed a system to keep track of where the kids are, for use in large stores, theme parks and other large areas.

- Plastic sheeting and old tyres are out and edible silage covers are in says Tierna Maguire of Our Lady’s Bower, Westmeath. They do the job but can be eaten when no longer needed.

- High heels might look stylish but they are a dangerous way to get about says Ella-Rose McIntyre and Róisín Cellarius, students at Coláiste Bhaile Chláir, Galway. Women wouldn’t wear them if aware of the damage being done.

- Students from St Nessan’s Community College, Limerick investigated the possibility of using 3-D printing to produce advanced prosthetics.
