Welcome to Week 4 of Get Swimming, a 12-week programme brought to you by The Irish Times, in association with Swim Ireland. Over the coming weeks, this training programme will help you to build your swimming stamina and confidence, so you are able to swim a mile by May.

Week Four

In your three sessions this week, we are working towards being able to swim one kilometre, using a front crawl stroke.

If you are taking part, you need to be able to commit to three training sessions a week. Remember, you can register for Swim Ireland's Swim for a Mile challenge at swimforamile.com. 

Session One
Total length = 46 lengths
Total distance = approx. 900m

Session Two
Total lengths = 48
Total distance = approx. 950m

Session Three
Total lengths = 50
Total distance = approx. 1,000m
