WestmeathBoherquill Ramblers' annual international walking festival takes place in Co Westmeath from next Friday until tomorrow week.

There will be a short local walk on Friday evening in the gardens and forest of Tullynally Castle, near Castlepollard, and in Derrycassin Forest, near Granard. There are two grades of walks in Mullaghmeen Forest and environs on Saturday and Sunday. E-mail briannerney@yahoo.co.uk.

Meath

The 12th annual Boyne Walk, in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, takes place on Saturday, May 24th, starting at the ramparts in Navan at 2pm and finishing in Slane. Call 087-6845046, 046-9053219 or the Irish Cancer Society at 1850-606060.

The Glen of Aherlow Walking Festival takes place over the June bank-holiday weekend.

There will be three grades of walks, as well as a nature trail.
