Travels with the SongBook clock radio, the world’s smallest humidifier and a ‘cabana’ for your four-legged friend.

SongBook travel clock radio
Tivoli Audio's SongBook has a pared-back aesthetic which makes it easy on the eye. And with an AM/FM radio, alarm clock, rubberised splash-proof case and decent sounds, it's easy to like too. Joined-up thinking by the designers means its six AA batteries can recharge in the SongBook itself and there's an Aux socket to play out your MP3 player. Even the name has a charm most techies just can't seem to summon up, however SongBook's size does slightly compromise its travel credentials: at 15cm x 18cm, it's a little more hefty than a pocketable paperback.

Jerry travel humidifier
If you find the dry sterility of some hotel rooms uncomfortable, you can conjure up your own humid micro climate with a Jerry Travel Humidifier. The ultra-portable unit, which it's claimed is the world's most compact humidifier, fits most standard water bottles. Simply stick one in the top, plug it in and you'll be steaming away. Little feet on each side make it more stable and the unit will shut off automatically when the bottle runs out. Comes in a travel pouch.

Guardian Gear beach dog cabana
Would that we'd get a few summers in which this might become a vital part of the holiday packing. It's a mini tent for your pooch, so that they can stay shaded in the baking sun. It's lightweight, with its own bag and pops up in seconds. Of course, weather apart, the usefulness of this "cabana" is entirely predicated on your dog happily sitting away in it while the 'hang' sandwiches are being handed out and the kids are chasing around with a ball. Good luck with that.
