McCambridge’s is a Galway institution that has been selling high-quality groceries, wines, cheeses, and gourmet food on Shop Street since 1925.

The McCambridge family has survived the onward march of globalisation by reinventing the premises without losing touch with its roots. The latest change is a new restaurant in the former storehouse. Upstairs at McCambridges is an airy, light-filled room, a little like a large loft. The menu is aimed at casual eating. The prices are reasonable: duck confit for €12.95; cold seafood platter for €11.95. For breakfast, lunch and dinner times, check mccambridges.com.
